Fab turnout at Fram XC

Dear All,

It was lovely to see so many Pacers at Framlingham yesterday for the first race in the Suffolk Winter League. We had a record number of senior members out and we really need this to continue throughout the season so we can try and win the different divisions again. Every member counts for points and we really need everyone, so please do not worry about not being fast enough. A huge thank you to Ian and Bev Gooderham for organising us all and putting up the gazebo at Framlingham, if you can help out at other races do let me know. The next event is Woodbridge on Sunday 30th November and further details will be sent nearer the date.

The other four fixtures are:
11th January – Stowmarket
25th January – Bungay
8th Febuary – Bury St Edmunds
15th February – Haverhill

On Saturday we had three members tackling marathons, with Phil Green at Eyri supported by the 100 mile hero Sophie Seward and Scott Williams. Phil recently moved across to Pacers and this was his first race sporting the club vest and he did us proud, finishing the race in 3.33. This marathon has a huge amount of elevation and Phil also had the pleasure of a couple of hail storms so this is a brilliant achievement, well done. Anita and Andrew Ward took on the Beachy Head Marathon, another on the bucket list for many. Both enjoyed great races after their recent Chester Marathons – hopefully a rest is next on the agenda… And Anita scored her age category victory!

Sunday Social and Cross Country Training – 2nd November
Cross Country training is back at Nowton Park at 9am with coaches Emily and Chris. Everyone is welcome for drills and hills – please meet in the car park at the cafe end. For the mud dodgers, please keep an eye on WhatsApp for details of the road based social run.

Lift the Curfew Run – Tuesday 28th October
A reminder we will be meeting in the Angel Hill car park at 6.30pm on Tuesday, which is free to park in after 3pm on Tuesdays for a 5k run to support England Athletics and their campaign. The campaign is aimed at supporting those who do not feel comfortable running on their own in the dark and although focussed on women, we believe that all members might experience some intrepidation during the winter months and therefore all members (and dogs) are welcome to join us for this run. We will stick to lit paths, please do wear bright clothing and head/body torches if you have them. We will meet near the Abbey Gate.

Have a great week.

Lara
