Tarpely Triumphs

Dear All,

I am sure many are now sat with a glass of something after a busy day at Tarpley. Alongside the brilliant running performances there were so many people who put in most of their weekends to make this a success. Everything appeared to go smoothly for new race directors Matt King and Chris Mower and there were plenty of complements about the marshalls, cakes, tshirts and general organisation so I think that means they did a brilliant job! Well done to every single person who helped make the event a success, I have no doubt that a tonne of money will once again be raised for MS UK and the complements will come flying into the club over the next few days.

On the running side there were strong performances on both sides – with age category wins for Izzy Holland and Jenny Morgan in the 10 miles and Claire Brown, Matt Axton and Nicky Bennett in the 20 mile event. Jessie Allen was third female overall in the 20 miler and Pacers also won the female team over the 20 miles, with Nicky and Jessie joined by Natasha Michael to take that title. There were many, many amazing PBs and superb runs – I did also hear that Jenny’s 10 mile time of 1.23 is a new county record – amazing stuff! Congratulations to everyone who lined up today.

Our next club race is the Stephen Williams 10k which is now open for entries. If you can help Marshall, register runners or car park Marshall then please do email Annie who is ccd to this email. We will have another cake stall at this event and will be raising funds for cystic fibrosis -more details will be sent on this nearer the time.

We are delighted to announce that our annual Miles of Miles event will be taking place at Chelmsford’s Melbourne Stadium on Saturday June the 20th, making it the eighth outing of this great event.

Once again we will also be incorporating the Essex AA 1 Mile Championships and the Cornell Team Cup.

Clubs can win £1000, £500 or £250 for coming 1st, 2nd & 3rd in the Cornell Cup, just by telling us they wish to contest the Cornell Cup.

There will be big money prizes for the first and second fastest Mens sub 4 and Women’s sub 4:37, plus prize money in the form of Amazon vouchers for the fastest athlete in each gender age category.

Miles of Miles medals will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd & 3rd place finishers at the end of every race.

Have a great week everyone.
