Dear All,

Last night saw the second and final leg of the track challenge hosted by our club. What a fantastic evening seeing so many members of all ages run around the track. There were a huge number of successes and PBs – well done to everyone who ran and a huge thank you to all members who came down to support their club mates.

It takes a huge number of volunteers to put on each event and we are lucky to have so many members who dedicate their time to allowing others to run and compete. Thank you to Andy Wright who race directed this event for the final time (Kieron will be taking over next year), Ian Gooderham for course directing, Kate Neale and Dawn Marshall for handing out the water and cheering us all on, Kieron Bales for hunting us all down to make sure we got our numbers, Mel Elsdon Crown for general organisation and support and our Junior coaches for the warm ups and cheers.

On Sunday Oliver Schofield finished his first World Major Marathon and fourth marathon event in Sydney, competing the tough course in 3.40 despite having a very less than ideal preparation, well done Ollie. I hope you have caught the Major bug and enjoy your holiday now!

It was a busy weekend for Pacers, with our annual Fish and Chips Social taking place at Horringer on Friday. Annie Richardson did a brilliant job to organise everyone and Tom Kingsnorth led us on a brilliant route, thank you both. The Committee are always happy to help support social event organisation or appreciate some further help so do let one of us know if you have an idea or would like to get more involved.

Save the Date – Awards Evening

Our annual celebration and awards evening will be taking place on Friday 16th January. This evening is for all members to celebrate successes and enjoy some delicious food. We will have further details a month or two before the event but the format and location (Bury St Edmunds Cricket Club) will remain similar to last year.

Pacers Grand Prix

This weekend is the next round in the Pacers Senior Grand Prix at Framlingham for the 10k. Entries are still open and there are also three more races in the series so you can still collect points and be in contention for a trophy at the awards evening!

Sunday also kicks off the new Junior Grand Prix with the Little Leaders race also at Framlingham. You can learn more about this series, which will run for the school year, here. There are awards in four categories and it would be great to see lots of Junior members tackling races over the 12 months. We plan to have an awards presentation in late August 2026 alongside the Fish and Chip social.

Please do also keep an eye on Whatsapp – there will still be a Sunday Social this weekend, likely from the Abbeycroft Leisure Centre or Nowton Park.
