Welcome to Saint Edmund Pacers

Saint Edmund Pacers is a running club based in Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk, England.  The origins of the club go back to 1978 with  keep fit sessions for Ladies and Gentlemen organised at the Sports Centre in Bury St Edmunds. To compliment the sessions the coach suggested that the participants met up on Sunday mornings to do some jogging.

The club now caters for all standards of runners from novice to internationals and all distances from the Sunday morning jog up to the full marathon.

The club meets at the West Suffolk Athletics Arena on Monday and Wednesday evenings at 6:30 p.m.

Latest updates

Bury Friday 5 on the 6th of June 2008

Thanks to the support and sponsorship of Glaswells and the Sweatshop entries are now being taken for the Bury Friday 5 which is to be held at Nowton Park on the 6th of June at 7.30pm. The Friday 5 race series gains in popularlty every year and last year the Bury race was over subscribed on the night and we had to turn some runners away. So to avoid disappointment you are advised to enter in advance to secure your entry.

As usual there is a 5 mile race for the adults - minimum age 15 and a junior fun run which will start at 7pm.

Race entry form is available here

Further details are available here

If you wish to enter on line you can do so here

Entry List for the Bury 5 up to 7th May 2008 can be found here

Entries on the night will close 15 minutes before the start of each race ie 6.45pm for the Juniors and 7.15pm for the adults.

Note

Bury Pacers are advised that if they wish to enter they should also look to provide a helper to do one of the many jobs that will be required on the night such as marshalling. It would help if you can mention any volunteers that can help when you return your race entry form please.

How to Join the Pacers

Iif you are wondering how and if you can join our running club then the answer is yes! You will be most welcome to attend the club training nights which are held on Monday and Wednesday at 6.30pm at the West Suffolk Athletics Track.

The club caters for all ages; all standards from beginners to marathon runners, there is good gender mix and a healthy junior section. If you make your way down the steps from the Abbeycroft Leisure Centre to the track just make yourself known and one of the coaches will make you feel welcome. The first two sessions are free so why not give it a try. If after this you would like to join then let us know and we can provide you with a membership form.

If you prefer not to attend club nights but still wish to receive the benefits of membership, then please e-mail us at info@pacers.org.uk. We are also happy to accept your membership and hope you will compete for the club.
