Pacers Update 9th June

Well done to everyone who ran at the latest Friday 5, which was also the latest race in the Pacers Grand Prix. The next race in the Grand Prix is the Kesgrave 10k which has sold out, as has the Wibbly Wobbly Log Jog (there is a waiting list), but you can enter the Framlingham 10k here.

Back to the Sudbury Friday 5, which saw a number of victories for Team Pacers ahead of our own race next Friday. Well done to Sandra Webb, Jenny Morgan, Joshua Wigmore and Andrew Southwood for winning their age categories and to Katie King, Jenny Steedman and Stacey Mockford for winning the female team and then Joshua Wigmore, Tom Smith and Andrew Southwood for winning the male team!

If you have not yet signed up for our own race, the Bury Friday 5 is still open for entries and takes place on Friday 20th June.

Thank you for the amazing support and donations ahead of the Suffolk Backyard Ultra which took place from midday on Saturday. It was brilliant to have three Pacers there and we all had great runs. George Allen recorded his longest run of the year with five yards, this was especially amazing as George was not sure whether he was going to start due to injury and he finished strong and on a high. I managed my target of 12 laps, with some lovely blisters and tired legs and finally Rob Wallace did an amazing 19 laps ahead of the Snowdon 24 challenge next month.

There was no way we would have got as far as we did without the amazing support from our fellow clubmates Ali, Annie, Becca, James, Katie, Kieran, Nat, Sophie and Scott (hopefully I have you all – sorry if I forgot anyone, brain a bit foggy). And a thank you to Damo for all of his advice and coming on training runs with us and to Ian for lending us a Pacers gazebo. This biggest thank you is for Todd, who crewed for us all and was absolutely amazing – even when he gave us nuts on leg 11! It is at events like this where you see what an amazing club we have – it was a true team effort for us all to cross our ‘finish line’ so a massive thank you.

Ekiden Relay – 6th July
We still need a few more runners for this event. Please let me know if you are able to take on a leg 5k, 7.2k or 10k to help out a team.

Sunday Social – 15th June
This week we will have 10k and 10 mile options – all runs open to everyone! Keep an eye on Whatsapp for the details.

Bury Friday 5
Just a quick note to say if you were hoping to practice the route ahead of the race next week, I am afraid we are not allowed to run through the farm at any other time so you will not be able to.
