The third round of the Eastern Masters track and field league took place at Kings Lynn on July 1^st.

It was a beautifully warm evening and our men and ladies teams performed brilliantly.

Afetr 3 matches the ladies lie in first place, just 1 point in front of Peterborough AC

The men remain in 4^th place 

The women´s 35- 49 age group had Catherine Peck (P) and Stacey Mockford (P) covering all the track and field events. Both ladies gained valuable points on the track placing second in all the track events behind a very strong Peterborough team. Both Catherine and Stacey showing true strength in their races.

The women´s 50-59 age group had Cienna Carter (NJ) and Eloise Bird (P) and again all events were covered. Eloise scoring top points in the high jump.   Both these ladies helped Catherine and Stacey to a superb second place in the relay.

The women´s 60-69 age group was covered by Elke Hausler (NJ) Christine Anthony (P) and Dawn Mason (WS). Elke Hausler not only competed in the mile and the 100m but also dropped down to the lower age group hammer. She scored maximum points in the 100m and was second in the hotly contested mile.

Christine won her 400m and Dawn gained second places in the shot and hammer, whilst also proving valuable in the jumps and 100m.

Dawn, Elke, Jane and Christine placed second out of five teams in the relay. This was pretty good as the relay was 50-59 age group and all the ladies were over 60.

In the 70 plus age group, Jane Wall (P) competed for the first time in this league and bravely took on the long jump as well as the mile and 100m and won all 3 events scoring maximum points for the team.

The men’s 35-49 only had Shane McAndrew (NJ) who had great runs in the 100m and 400m with two second placings, then surprised himself with a suprise second and PB in the high jump. To cover the Mile and long jump,  Andy Fryatt (NJ) and Richard Defries (NJ) both dropped down for a couple of events . Both Andy and Richard are proving to be excellent jumpers gaining near maximum points in the long Jump.

In the 50-59 Andy, Richard and Mark Davies (P) covered all the track events , Mark running PBs in his 100m, 400m and Mile, Richard also set a PB in the 400m with an excellent second place finish.   

Shane, Mark, Phil Blundell (NJ) and Richard Defries  all ran in the younger age group relay to gain an excellent second place, Richard having to hold off the West Norfolk athlete to maintain second by 0.4 secs.

In the 60-69 age group, two Pacers athletes Eamoon Coverney and Karl Bedingfield covered all the track events between them, both picking up useful points for the team. Eamonn showing his speed over the distance events as well as shorter distance. Karl running a very close 400m race exceeding his predicted time.

Both men , with Malcolm Osbourne (NJ) and Andy Fryatt competed in the 50-59 relay, Eamonn showing his speed in the final 400m by overtaking the West Norfolk athlete in the home straight.

In the 70´s age group, Malcolm (NJ) covered the Mile race and the 100m, showing his ability to cover both sprints and distance. This age group is certainly getting more popular with the teams.

It was a very successful night with a scattering of PBs and a healthy number of points earned.

It was great to see our combined team working together so well.

The 4^th match is on Tuesday 28^th July at Peterborough.

At present it looks highly likely that the ladies will make the final at Bedford on Saturday 19^th September.  Men remain in 4^th place and hope to improve their position in the final match.
