The last EMAC track and field  league match of the season was held on the 30^th July at Kings Lynn. This was the final one to decide which teams would go through to the final at Thurrock on September 6th. A total of 18 athletes from our combined team battled it out at the Norfolk track, with the ladies producing their best score of the season. The ladies covered all events apart from pole vault and the W70 category.

In the W35 category, Catherine gained excellent seconds in the 200m, 400m hurdles and javelin. Also in the W35s Helen Donelly was an superb winner in the 3000m and triple jump  and Laura Todd (NJ) finishing 2^nd in the 800m in a very competitive race. These three ladies, with the help of Eloise Bird won convincingly in the 400, 200, 200, 400 relay.

In the W50 category, Eloise Bird was the stalwart of the team completing in 6 different events, including 300m hurdles and triple jump. Also in the 50s Cienna Carter (NJ) won both her 800m and 3000m races, These two covered every event apart from Pole vault in their age group.

In the W60s, Christine managed to win the 800m and 200m and was a very close second in the 300m hurdles. Elke Hausler came a strong 2^nd in the 3000m, Dawn Mason took on the three field events. These 3 ladies, with Cienna ran a very competitive relay, just losing out to Peterborough on the last 50m.

In the Men 35 to 49 category, Oli Clanford and Phil Blundell NJ were the two lone runners, Oli taking on a very fast 800m and rewarded with a PB.  Then securing second place in the 3000m shortly after.  Phil took time out from officiating to run our 200m. Adam Maltpress was our only field event athlete, competing in the discus and javelin.

In the M50 category Richard Defries competed in the 800m and 3000m, both very competitive races and was rewarded with a second place in the 800m. Mark Lewis, showed a turn of speed in the 200m. Stuart Janes ran a 200m as a non scorer , recording his best time this year.  We missed our M50 field event athletes Chris Kent and Paul Harrison from WSAC due to injury.

M60 athletes included Howard Beasley and Andrew Stewart who covered all the running events, both scoring valuable points.

M70, we were delighted to welcome our first M70 athlete from NJ. Malcolm Osborne who came second in his first ever 3000m. We hope next season to find more 70 year old plus athletes to help our team.

We managed to field two mens relay teams to help our point scores.

After 4 matches the scores are added together and the top 8 out of 16 teams get invited to the final on September 6th.

Ladies have just found out that they qualify, which is a great reward for all the hard work we have put in.
