Hi All,
What a weekend! Pacers were out in force at events across the country including in the events below:
Round Norfolk Relay
Also referred to as ‘Running Christmas’ as many believe it is one of the best events of the year. Once again the club running the circumference of Norfolk did not disappoint, with the Ladies Team reclaiming the cup they won in 2023 and our Open Team finishing in the top half of teams in 25 hours and 39 minutes.
There were also stage victories for Gem Carter, Zohra Armitage and James O’Brien, with James taking out the stage 2 record with minutes to spare – an incredible run! Jane Wall ran a brilliant leg of over 16 miles in the darkness and claimed the ladies masters age category win. Congratulations to all runners, as Chris said many left their heart and soul out on the course and helped achieved the results we did.
This event is an absolute mammoth effort to organise, huge kudos to Chris and Ian for organising us all so flawlessly. Each runner needs four or five volunteers on bikes, cars and time keeping, as well as car runners to help with logistics. Thank you to every single person who helped the teams – we could not do it without you.
Remember, if you want to be a part of our next relay event, we will be entering teams into the Hereward Relay soon. The club will cover the cost of team entries and you can sign up here.
Thetford Backyard Ultra
At the time of writing this email, Alastair Angus is currently 28 yards into this event with just three runners left. The weather is getting rough with a storm coming in, good luck Ali on bringing this one home!
Fellow Pacer members Phil Green and Abigail Jackson finished 15 and 12 laps respectively – incredible efforts but officially due to the rules of the event go down as DNFs.
Felixstowe 10
A few Pacers ran in this 10 mile event. Well done to Anita Ward for finishing in a fabulous time in 1.27 and coming third in her age category. Andrew Ward ran a brilliant race too, finishing in 1.18 closely followed by Mark Lewis in 1.19. A great run for Faith Lewis in 2.03 too.
Other events
Matt Bishop ran an incredible 3.31 at the Richmond RunFest Marathon, in true Matt-fashion he looked to be having a whinge halfway but ran a fantastic race, well done! Josh Clarke-Davis finished the Weymouth 70.3, having a great race despite the swim being cancelled and the course being a little hiller than Suffolk. Speaking of hills, Katie Margarson and Ross Hollinworth ran a 25k ultra style event in the Peak District to celebrate Katie’s birthday, well done both!
Sunday Social
This weekend we will meet on Sunday at Knettishall Health at 9am for our social run – thank you to George Allen for organising this run. Please see the Whatsapp group for further details on where to meet and the routes.
