Dear All,

The local event of the weekend was the Road Relays – where the club claimed gold in the v60 Mens and Women’s teams, as well as silver in the V40 men, open women and open men, as well as a bronze for another team in the v60 men. The gold teams were made up of Rob Morgan, Howard Beasley and with the women Haley Suttle, Jenny Morgan and Kirsty Weavers. It was nice to see Dawn Marshall and Karl Bedingfield out on their first races for a while. I really appreciate how much it sucks when you cannot join team events so it is always nice to see those who have had some time on the sidelines return.

A short note from Cath on the Junior division:

Well done to everyone who ran who made this a fantastic team event and we had some awesome results. We were 1st in all the girl’s age groups with a 1st and 2nd in U13 girls. We were placed 2nd and 3rd in U15 boys and 1st and 2nd places for the U17 men’s teams. Fantastic runs from everyone but Sam Blackwell ran the fastest Suffolk leg and Seb Melero ran quickest senior leg of the day from both Suffolk and Essex runners.

Congratulations to all those who ran both seniors and juniors and well done to Ian for organising the teams.

We had five brave Pacers tackle the two laps of the Wymondham 20 miles, with Mike Greener first home in 2.11 closely followed by David Loomes in 2.12. Mike was also second in his age category, well done! Joe Carter finished in 2.21, Matt King in 2.32 and then George Allen 2.56. I am sure many of you have marathon planned for the spring and no doubt this race will set you up perfectly!

A few other highlights from the weekend:

– At the Wilmslow Half Chris Mower managed a PB in 1 hr 18 mins – over four minutes quicker than his previous best. Super run!
– Stacey Mockford ran in the Thorney 10k England Masters qualifier.
– In the parkrun division, team Schofield travelled to Holland to record a ‘Z’ for their parkrun alphabet but looks like they will be beaten by Dave Beighton who is due to complete his next weekend. The new event opened at West Stow on Saturday, giving everyone another local option. I am afraid travelling 5 miles up the road doesn’t really count as tourism though 🙂 I reached a milestone of 200 different events at Southall on Saturday, might take a while to reach 250!
